VOCEL'S INCA MARKETING PLATFORM DELIVERS EXCEPTIONAL RESULTS FOR MIDWEST WIRELESS

Pilot program demonstrates INCA's effectiveness in building revenues and subscriber adoption of data applications

San Diego, CA, September 11, 2006 – VOCEL, a pioneering wireless push technology company, announced today its innovative Interactive Commerce Accelerator (INCA) technology platform has significantly improved revenues and subscriber data application adoption rates in a pilot program conducted by Minnesota-based Midwest Wireless.

The INCA platform enables mobile content – such as ringtones, wallpapers and games – to be sent using an active push to targeted, opted-in subscribers, who can then complete a purchase with a single touch.

Midwest Wireless serves over 440,000 subscribers in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. Beginning in June 2006, Midwest Wireless began offering the INCA platform to its subscribers, thousands of whom opted-in to receive marketing messages at pre-selected intervals about products they were interested in. Among the results:
  • The sales conversion rate for the INCA platform was 2.6 percent, compared to 0.2 percent for a typical SMS-based campaign
  • Subscribers requested an average of 37 INCA content messages per month – carriers usually limit promotions to two SMS messages per month
  • Over 60 percent of subscribers were in the coveted 18-to-34 age demographic

INCA’s one-touch technology overcomes the barriers that have kept many customers from finding and purchasing items using their cell phones.  Typically, such a purchase involves up to 25 clicks, and takes over two minutes. INCA reduces this process down to a single click.
INCA personalizes each marketing message through a sophisticated inference and recommendation engine that analyzes user-supplied demographics and past buying habits to select content that each subscriber is most likely to buy. The content is immediately available to sample and buy with no download delays, creating an unobtrusive and seamless consumer experience.

“We’re very excited about the results we’ve seen,” said Scott Bergs, chief operating officer of Midwest Wireless. “Trial results indicate that INCA will increase the number of subscribers who purchase mobile content by over 10 percent, increase mobile content transactions by over 10 percent and increase mobile content transaction revenues by over 15 percent.”
